The signs, in the order they usually appear

A fake listing is trying to do two things at once: sound good enough to answer, and move fast enough that you do not check. Almost every sign below is one of those two things showing through.
- Any payment asked for before you have started work
- A salary clearly above what the work pays elsewhere, with no explanation
- Pressure to decide today, or "only 2 seats left"
- No company name, or a name that returns nothing when you search it
- An interview only on WhatsApp, with no office, no site and no video
- A personal phone number and a free email address instead of a company one
- Being asked for your Aadhaar or bank details before any offer exists
- Spelling of the company name that is slightly off a well-known brand
The two-minute check
Do minute ka check.
You do not need to be an investigator. Three questions catch most of it, and you can do all three from the phone you are already holding.
- Search the company name together with the word "fraud" or "scam" and read what comes back
- Ask for the office address, then look at it on a map — a real hiring company has a real place
- Ask what the salary is in writing, and what the deductions are. A real employer answers plainly; a fake one changes the subject
Too good is a sign, not a bonus

A wage far above the going rate for the same work in the same city is the single most reliable warning in this list, and the hardest to act on — because the person reading it needs the money, and doubting it feels like turning down luck.
It is not luck. Rates for a job are set by what the work is worth to the business. An offer well outside that range is either not the job described, or not real. Checking costs you an hour. Not checking has cost people a month's wages.
What a genuine listing looks like

A real posting is specific and boring. It names the company, the place you would work, the hours, and what it pays. It survives questions. It does not need you to decide before you have thought about it.
